Mercosur Regional Analysis

Wheat Rainfall continues to evade much of Argentina’s wheat-growing region and out of the total planted area, 2 Mha are estimated to be in either regular or poor condition according to the Rosario Grain Exchange. Twenty-two percent of the area is in poor/very poor condition, 25 percent is excellent, and the rest is fair. If there is no rain in the coming weeks, the potential yield is expected to decline again, forcing a reduction in crop estimates, which currently range between 14.5 and 15 MMT. Communicating importance of value-added products

Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
