Mercosur Regional Analysis

While Brazilian beans are offered at +144 SH for February, U.S. beans are traded in the low 130s SF for January and could be around 135-140 SH for February. Meanwhile, farmers in Uruguay are still not selling, but exporters are starting to show more interest in moving product. Soybeans After last week’s movement, basis is maintaining its lowest level of the year for 2016. Offers are below +5 SN, while the last bid shown was at 0 SN. Communicating importance of value-added products

Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
