Corn The Argentine government surprised the world last week by announcing a suspension of new corn export sales through 1 March, the end of the old crop marketing year and the start of the new crop. That means Argentina will only export what has already been declared for export during the months of January and February. Argentina currently has export declarations of 34 MMT out of an estimated export surplus of 38 MMT. Officials claim they need the export ban to ensure adequate domestic corn supplies at reasonable prices to control food inflation.
