Crop Rotation Trends There was an interesting report from the Rosario Grain Exchange noting that crop rotations (soybeans versus corn or wheat) in the core agricultural region have improved over the last five years but will deteriorate in 2020/21. A good rotation between soybeans and grass crops (primarily corn and wheat) is fundamental for sustainable production, weed control, and soil health. The 2014/15 crop year was the worst in terms of crop rotation as Argentina saw 4.4 hectares of soybeans for each hectare of grass crops. Since then, the ratio has been improving, reaching 1.6 hectares of soybeans/grass crops in 2019/20.
