Wheat Argentina’s wheat production for the coming campaign is being divided into three regions. The northern end of the country reduced planted area by 20 percent or more and is suffering severe drought. Yields will be much lower than normal from this region. In the center of the country, planted area fell 7-8 percent from 2019 but rains at the beginning of September helped crop conditions. Even so, more rain is needed now to ensure continued development of the crop. Finally, wheat in the southern end of Argentina (which accounts for 30 percent of the country’s crop) is developing and in good shape with adequate soil moisture.
