Fields in the core area are suffering from a lack of rain and this may dampen final yields. Most of the crop, however, comes from the south of the core agricultural area and the soil moisture there is good. On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt.
