Mexico announced last month that it is suspending import duties on 66 tariff lines for food and input items in order to fight inflation. The suspension will be in force for one year, or until May 2023. It is part of the Program to Combat Food Price Inflation and Scarcity (PACIC, Spanish acronym). Among the items covered are: corn oil, rice, sorghum, wheat, rice, pork, beef, chicken, white corn, corn flour, wheat flour, eggs, milk, onions, jalapeño peppers, beans, tomatoes, lemons, apples, oranges, potatoes, carrots, and certain pastas.
