News Updates EGYPT AND FUEL Much like the recent fuel crisis in the UK, Egypt's fuel shortage continues to create complications. The Egyptian government has said that there is no fuel shortage; rather, the problem has been caused by consumers hoarding supplies of gasoline, diesel, propane, etc. And, of course, the black market is doing exactly the same thing.The general feeling in Egypt, however, is that the government is responsible for the shortages because it reduced imports of petroleum products and because more than 28 percent of the government budget goes toward subsidies for food and fuel.
