Regional Updates MEDITERRANEAN/MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA/AFRICA – MEA REGION Qatar has contributed $20 million to the “Grain from Ukraine” program.  Egypt’s Prime Minister says that inflation will be down to 10 percent by 2025 due to the government’s economic reforms. Inflation stood at 34.6 percent in December 2023.  Egypt’s Central Bank is expected to allow the Egyptian currency to drop in value against the U.S. dollar by about 30 percent in 2024. Currently the secondary (black) market rate for U.S. dollars is about 60 percent higher than the official bank exchange rate. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
