Mediterranean/Middle East/North Africa/Africa – MEA Region Morocco’s rainfall has increased this year after the last two/three years of drought. Water supplies are increasing behind dams and in reservoirs, but experts say it could take a few years of normal rain to get all water levels back to where they were before the drought. There is also concern that increased water usage by agriculture could limit water level recovery. Morocco announced that its new soft wheat import subsidy program will run from 1 May until 31 December 2025 to overcome the effects of the drought of the past two years. The existing soft wheat import subsidy program will end on 30 April.
