Mediterranean/Middle East/North Africa/Africa – MEA Region There is very little information on the Middle East and North Africa due to the end of Ramadan and the start of the EID holidays. Tomorrow, 2 April, is “import tariff day”. Import tariffs by the U.S. and reciprocal tariffs by exporting countries could change the world dynamics of the grain and oilseed market. It will be interesting and perhaps exciting or upsetting to see what the results of the tariffs will be. Comments by the press and country leaders seem to point to very little, if any, direct effect on Middle East and African countries but it is felt that grain/oilseed import prices could be changed by tariffs that may cause world prices to rise or fall.
