Regional Updates MEDITERRANEAN/MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA  Gemcorp Commodities is reportedly supplying 200,000 MT of Russian wheat to Ethiopia with the results of a recent tender. Shipment will be of 11.5 percent protein wheat. Gemcorp supplied Ukraine and Argentina wheat to Ethiopia in 2019. Gemcorp is said to have a structured trade finance program that should appeal to cash-poor wheat buyers in Africa.  Egypt’s government has purchased 3 MMT of local wheat on the way to its target total of 3.6 MMT. Weighing in on strategic realignment

WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
