Regional Updates MEDITERRANEAN/MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA/AFRICA – MEA REGION Iran reports that its cereals imports for 2022/23 will drop by 25 percent due to a nearly 5 MMT increase in local cereals production. Wheat production is expected to increase by 4 MMT to 130 MMT with wheat imports dropping from close to 8 MMT to about 3.4 MMT. Corn imports are expected to be unchanged at about 9 MMT. Local corn production is also steady at 1.3 MMT. Egypt reports that its first shipment of 55,000 MT of Indian wheat has arrived and passed all quality requirements for importation.
