Egypt imported about 28.4 percent of maize exports, or about 1.7 million MT. Iran was the third-largest importer at 14.5 percent, or 900,000 MT, followed by Algeria at 10.9 percent, or 660,000 MT. Brazil’s maize exports for the period totaled 6.08 MMT. Egypt’s government is reported to have purchased about 4.72 million MT of local wheat through mid-August 2026 — about 750,000 MT higher than its 2025 purchases.
