Mediterranean/Middle East/North Africa/Africa – MEA Region Pakistan flooding reportedly damaged as much as 30 percent of wheat stocks in some areas, especially eastern Punjab. Local wheat prices are said to be up by 40 percent with further increases expected. Trade reports say that due to the losses Pakistan could have to import as much as 6 MMT of wheat. Syria has seen another two shipments of wheat arrive from Ukraine – 16,000 MT in Lattakia and 21,500 MT in Tartous. Purchases have been by the government’s Syrian Grain Corporation.
