Mediterranean/Middle East/North Africa/Africa – MEA Region Turkey is reportedly buying Russian grain once again due to lower wheat production this year – production of wheat dropped from 21 MMT in 2023/24 to an expected 16.3 MMT in 2025/26 – due to severe drought. Turkey’s TMO grain agency has recently purchased 300,000 MT of Russian wheat to supplement local crops. Total wheat imports from Russia by TMO and the private sector are up to 880,000 MT at the end of October. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
