Total cattle on feed was 99 percent of last year, only the second time in 28 months that year-over-year monthly inventories have been down despite a smaller calf crop every year since 2006. Much of the feedlot inventory was based on Mexican feeder cattle coming into the U.S. and some Canadian cattle, too.
