Informa released its initial U.S. planting ideas for the 2018 season, which indicate it is expecting more corn acres and fewer soybean acres. It’s tough to argue with that even though corn prices are rumbling along or setting new contract lows almost daily. The 2017 corn yield came out of nowhere to set another record. It’s still difficult, if not impossible, to break even at current prices despite record yields, but corn is the only crop that at least provides the opportunity to make a few dollars IF the yields continue to be so good.
