Soybean Plantings in China's Heilongjiang Province Down by 20 Percent Reports out of China indicate farmers in the country's Heilongjiang province have reduced their soybean plantings by 20 percent this year. The area planted to soybeans this year is estimated at only 2.7 million hectares. Last year, the province produced 4.85 MMT of soybeans. Assuming the same yields as last year, the cut in plantings this year may result in production falling by almost 1 MMT. That would need to be offset by increased imports.
