Rosario Exchanges Cuts Forecast for Argentine Soybean Production The Rosario Grains Exchange today reduced its forecast for Argentine soybean production this year from 53 MMT to 48 MMT. It said the reduction was because of the extreme heat that has impacted northern parts of the country. It singled out the province of Salta as an area where the crop is in very serious condition because of drought in consecutive years. The exchange said the country's national average yield this year will be 2.5 MT/hectare (37.1 bushels/acre). The average yield in Buenos Aires province is forecasted at 2.5 MT/hectare, while the yield in Cordoba province is forecasted at 2.65 MT/hectare (39.4 bushels/acre).The exchange release indicated rains that fell 18-1...
Illuminating the value of technical research
On behalf of a commodity producer organization, WPI evaluated the outputs from a project that featured a $5 million investment into technical research over multiple years. WPI’s team captured the results of this extensive effort and synthesized them for presentation to the organization’s governing board; among the findings uncovered and presented for the first time was the development of genomic traits proven, via rigorous testing, to provide crop yield advantages of 50 percent or more to U.S. farmers in times of drought. Capturing measurable results from long-term efforts can be challenging. Educating clients on the dynamics of success measurement when quantifiable results are not readily available requires deep client-consultant collaboration and an ability to consider both near- and long-term client aspirations with market/policy dynamics – attributes that WPI brings to every consulting engagement.
