Big New Crop Soybean Sales Last Week Today's USDA export sales report showed U.S. exporters made exceptionally large new crop soybean sales last week. The net total sold for shipment after 31 August was 1.8934 MMT with the main buyers being China (1.333 MMT), unknown (417,000 MT), Japan (60,300 MT), Turkey (25,000 MT) and Indonesia (23,300 MT). That does not include the 963,000 MT that USDA announced earlier in the week were sold to China for shipment in 2013/14. On behalf of a commodity producer organization, WPI evaluated the outputs from a project that featured a $5 million investment into technical research over multiple years. WPI’s team captured the results of this extensive effort and synthesized them for presentation to the organization’s governing board; among the findings uncovered and presented for the first time was the development of genomic traits proven, via rigorous testing, to provide crop yield advantages of 50 percent or more to U.S. farmers in times of drought.
