It now appears Indian soy industry officials agree that India's 2013 soybean crop will not be anywhere near as large as the 12–13 MMT that some in India were forecasting earlier this year. China Imported 6.03 MMT of Soybeans in November China's General Administration of Customs indicated yesterday that China's soybean imports in November totaled 6.03 MMT. Of that amount, 3.55 MMT were imported from the U.S, 1.378 MMT from Brazil, 770,469 MT from Argentina and 279,734 MT from Uruguay. Imports from Canada totaled 40,998 MT. China imported 55.97 MMT of soybeans during the first 11 months of CY 2013, an increase of 6.63 percent over the same period of 2012. Illuminating the value of technical research
On behalf of a commodity producer organization, WPI evaluated the outputs from a project that featured a $5 million investment into technical research over multiple years. WPI’s team captured the results of this extensive effort and synthesized them for presentation to the organization’s governing board; among the findings uncovered and presented for the first time was the development of genomic traits proven, via rigorous testing, to provide crop yield advantages of 50 percent or more to U.S. farmers in times of drought. Capturing measurable results from long-term efforts can be challenging. Educating clients on the dynamics of success measurement when quantifiable results are not readily available requires deep client-consultant collaboration and an ability to consider both near- and long-term client aspirations with market/policy dynamics – attributes that WPI brings to every consulting engagement.
