Argentina's oilseed processors want the country to grow more soybeans so that they can increase their capacity utilization. The country currently has about 65 MMT of crush capacity, but only about 45.7 MMT are expected to be processed this year. However, they are likely to face even greater obstacles. Over 1 MMT of U.S. Soybeans Exported Last Week Today’s USDA weekly exports sales report indicated 1.0742 MMT of U.S. soybeans were exported in the week ending 4 August. Although a similar volume may have been exported during a week in August in the past, there is no apparent evidence of that. Last week’s soybean exports were primarily to China (496,100 MT), Vietnam (75,800 MT), Spain (67,500 MT), the Netherlands (66,600 MT), Pakistan (66,000...
Illuminating the value of technical research
On behalf of a commodity producer organization, WPI evaluated the outputs from a project that featured a $5 million investment into technical research over multiple years. WPI’s team captured the results of this extensive effort and synthesized them for presentation to the organization’s governing board; among the findings uncovered and presented for the first time was the development of genomic traits proven, via rigorous testing, to provide crop yield advantages of 50 percent or more to U.S. farmers in times of drought. Capturing measurable results from long-term efforts can be challenging. Educating clients on the dynamics of success measurement when quantifiable results are not readily available requires deep client-consultant collaboration and an ability to consider both near- and long-term client aspirations with market/policy dynamics – attributes that WPI brings to every consulting engagement.
