Oilseed Highlights

The average forecast of analysts queried by Reuters is for Brazil to produce a record 103.1 MMT of soybeans in 2017. This is clearly a possibility if the country has good weather in the growing season. However, it is far from being a certainty for several reasons. Canadian Canola Stocks Larger Than Expected Statistics Canada yesterday released its 31 July crop stocks report, which had canola stocks at 2 MMT, 27 percent below the total as of the same date a year ago. However, it was a surprise to analysts queried by Reuters as their average prediction was 1.17 MMT. Most of the higher-than-expected stocks were found in on-farm storage.
