India’s Vegoil Refiners Push Lower Tariff Rates for Crude Palm Oil The Solvent Extractors Association (SEA) of India is pushing the government to lower the import tariff on crude palm oil to prevent further damaging of the domestic vegoil refining sector. The request is a result of surging imports of refined palm oil from Malaysia and Indonesia. It indicates 1.45 MMT were imported last month, a 26 percent increase from 1.15 MMT in March 2018. The total was 1.24 MMT in February, up 7.4 percent versus the same month last year. India is the world’s largest importer of vegoils.
