Survey Says: U.S. Farmers Will Plant More Corn and Less Soybeans in 2019 Farmers intend to plant more corn than soybeans in 2019, according to a survey of 924 U.S. farmers done by Farm Futures from July 20 through August 2. The survey also found farmers intend to plant more winter wheat, sorghum, and cotton, but less spring wheat, durum wheat. According to the survey, farmers intend to plant 90.8 million acres of corn in 2019, an increase of 1.9 percent over 2018.
