U.S. Soy Export Sales Highlights Today’s USDA export sales report indicated exporters of U.S. soybeans, soymeal, and soyoil had greater success selling U.S. soybeans and soyoil for export, but sales of soymeal for export declined. Considering it was Christmas week, the sales were still positive. Net export sales of soybeans in the week ending 24 December for shipment in 2020/21 totaled 695,400 MT. That was a substantial increase over the previous week. The top sales were for China (619,700 MT), Egypt (91,800 MT), Indonesia (88,900 MT), the Netherlands (88,600 MT), and Thailand (78,000 MT). Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
