U.S. Soy Export Highlights The week ending 30 April was not a good one for U.S. soy exports. Sales of soybeans, soymeal and soyoil for shipment in 2019/20 were all down from the previous week. Net soybean exports sales last week for 2019/20 shipment totaled 653,100 MT. That was down by 39 percent from the previous week. The top sales were for China (287,900 MT), unknown destinations (115,400 MT), Mexico (71,100 MT), Egypt (50,900 MT), and Algeria (45,000 MT). Sales for shipment in 2020/21 totaled 177,500 MT with China (132,000 MT), Mexico (43,500 MT) and Thailand being the top destinations. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
