Wheat markets finally have begun to focus on the continued severe drought covering the Plains HRW production area. USDA's weekly crop condition report for all winter wheat reported that as of 25 November, just 33 percent of the 2013 new crop was rated as in good or excellent condition, a record low for late November, while 26 percent of the crop was poor or very poor. The good/excellent category fell 1 percent, and the poor/very poor category grew by 2 percent compared to the prior week. HRW is in bad shape because little or no rain has fallen in the past 30 days.
