Outlook for the Fed Meeting This Week

The Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week with the make-up of the committee still up in the air. Governor Lisa Cook is questionable regarding her attendance after President Trump has sought her to ouster her on mortgage fraud allegations. Likewise, Stephan Miran, currently a White House economic aide, nominated for the Fed by Trump is uncertain as his confirmation vote might not take place in time for the meeting. Some of this could be settled by this evening as the Senate has pledged to vote on his confirmation, but it is not certain.
