PepsiCo, Carrefour and GI’s A major story this week is major French retailer Carrefour saying it is dropping PepsiCo products because its prices are too high. It is not unusual for American companies to face attacks from the French but inflation is not a problem that PepsiCo has manifested on its own. Eurostat data show food price inflation in the Euro-area in December was 6.1 percent. PepsiCo sold $9 billion worth of food products in Europe in the first nine months of 2023. That is around one-half percent of total European food market revenues during that period.
