Pink, Pink You Stink The media has had a heyday with the revelation that meat scraps are used in the making of hamburger (e.g. minced meat), and has sought to helpfully sensationalize the story. ABC's Diane Sawyer spoke with a breathless voice last week and contended that she was going to tell her viewers something that no one else would, despite the story being two years old and the policy two decades old. MSNBC's Jane Weaver, listed as deputy health editor, broadcast that the product was "meat and muscle salvaged from slaughterhouse floors" -- somehow making meat distinct from muscle while making cutting tables the same as floors. She then described it as the "unappetizing pink goo" -- "unappetizing" and "goo" being deliciously emotive...
