Human nature veers toward concern over the future, but facts are irrefutable. As noted by Steven Pinker in Enlightenment Now, everything in the world is getting better: longevity, health, physical and economic security, the environment, etc. This is also true of agriculture, trade and the economy. Trade Policy: There are concerns, including whether the U.S. next imposes tariffs on autos, but also bright opportunities at this juncture such as trade opening negotiations in play with China, Europe, Japan, the Philippines as well as possibly the UK and Africa. Getting the Trump administration to address its steel and aluminum tariffs would be another positive development. Agricultural Policy: Angst over surplus food is always better than fear...
