The Administration has released its regulatory agenda for the rest of 2024. The agenda is a public notice process that details agencies’ work on proposed and upcoming regulations that will be put out for comment. In all, USDA has 109 regulations in the works, some significant and some less so. The biggest portion is from USDA’s Rural Development service, but below are items of interest to commodity markets. RFS and Biofuels Setting the annual required volume obligation (RVO) under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) actually comes from the EPA, which is proposing to issue the proposed 2026 volumes in March 2025 and finalize them in December 2025. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
