Boehner Salvages Farm Bill Critics excoriated it, Democrats voted against it and President Obama made a grandstanding veto threat against it, but U.S House passage today (216-208) of just the farm support components of the larger legislative package moves the process one step closer to enactment.  A reported upside, which the White house should support, is the bill's replacement of the ridiculous 1930's era language as the "fall back" so-called "permanent law" with the current bill's language.  Where there is pending trouble is the House Republican leadership's intent to bring to the floor a separate bill reauthorizing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or food stamps.
