We have just returned from our annual autumn fishing trip. This year’s destination was the eastern part of Idaho, a state filled with beautiful scenery, a multitude of great trout streams, endless fields of hay and potatoes, and some range cattle. A few fields from which wheat or barley had been harvested were observed, but Idaho’s grain production is relatively small and its oilseed production even smaller. It is always nice to take a short break from markets and related subjects. Getting away from gridlocked Washington even briefly is necessary to regain some degree of perspective.
