The U.S. soybean harvest has progressed rapidly and the corn harvest more slowly. Meanwhile, winter wheat planting is plugging away at near the average pace. Dissatisfaction over prices has producers selling as little as possible, and futures markets have not had to withstand a great deal of hedging pressure. USDA/NASS will provide its updated yield and production estimates in next month’s WASDE (to be released 9 November) and its final numbers in the January issue. When its yield estimates go up or down in October, they have a moderate tendency to move in the same direction in November.
