There has been a lot of attention focused on the possibility of Brazilian sugar ethanol entering the United States this year, but a quick read of USDA's October Sugar and Sweeteners report shows that we could have some homegrown sugar ethanol in the coming year.USDA increased its estimate of beet sugar production for FY 2012 by 75,000 ST and raw value (STRV) to 4.825 million STRV. With the early start to the sugar beet harvest in the Red River Valley and Michigan, sugar production in August amounted to a record high of 178,619 STRV.
