Supply Chain Diversity EU policy experts have assembled a tome on the “State of Food Security in the EU.” The biannual report focuses on how to ensure food security in times of crisis. The authors highlight the growing concerns about extreme adverse weather events in the EU. They logically conclude that such an event could increase the need for food imports, together with higher food prices as supplies tighten relative to demand. The report points to relatively high rates of food self-sufficiency in Europe, but never connects the dots whereby high self-sufficiency increases the risk of food insecurity.
