Shorten the supply chains became the mantra but even that is not a clear solution. As noted by Bloomberg, a study by the Asian Development Bank found that countries integrated into complex value chains were more economically damaged by the global downturn than were more autonomous countries, though the difference was small (5.5 percent). Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development.
