Türkiye’s Higher Wheat Flour Exports

Türkiye is the world’s largest exporter of wheat flour, and the International Grains Council says the country will export a record 5.4 MMT in MY 2023/24. That is up 12.5 percent from MY 2022/23. Part of the reason is a bumper domestic wheat crop based largely on higher yield. Rains are always the wildcard in this region's agriculture and this spring, Türkiye received some generous spring rains. The area harvested was up 5.8 percent from a year earlier but is off 2.6 percent from the 10-year average. But the yield is up 6.6 percent for the year and is 10.8 percent above the 10-year average.
