Backing the Senate position, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called for reducing the tariffs and White House Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh said they “serve no strategic purpose.” Meanwhile, USTR Katherine Tai backs the House position that the tariffs provide negotiating leverage.
