The U.S. drought continues to worsen, particularly across the central Southern Plains where the HRW wheat crop is produced. The weekly crop ratings have continued to decline, with the percentage of the crop rated good to excellent now at the lowest level ever. The ratings will decline again in the weeks ahead based on current weather forecasts. Temperatures will set record highs from South Dakota all the way to Oklahoma and Texas. Highs will be in the mid-60s across South Dakota and in the 70s and 80s south. There is no rain in sight. WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment.
