Private observers, including WPI, were nearly unanimous in predicting that drought-damaged HRS wheat production would decline from NASS’ previous estimate of 364 million bushels, especially after harvested area was reduced to reflect abandoned acreage. However, estimated HRS production was increased by 21 million bushels to 385 million.NASS adjusted harvested acreage lower, but only by 3.7 percent.
