For many years, USDA analysts have been cobbling together 10-year projections of planted area, yields, production, demand, carryout levels and farm gate prices for the major field crops. These are mostly put together in November and then released the following February at the time of USDA’s annual Outlook Forum. However, that three-month gap means that they could already be out of date at their release.
