The latest bearish exercise in the corn market is talk that the early planted 2012 corn crop also will be harvested early. That certainly makes some sense, although it will all depend on weather. The warm and dry early spring has turned cool and damp, and that will slow emergence and the rate of growth. What happens with temperatures and moisture going forward is still a guessing game. Some estimates for "early" corn filling the gap from very tight old crop supplies to large new crop supplies are as high as 400-500 million bushels.
