China Purchases 30 MMT of Grain for Reserves As previously reported, the Chinese government began its state reserve purchase program in early November. By the end of November, it had purchased a total of 30 MMT of grain in Inner Mongolia, Anhui and Heilongjiang. Of that amount, there are 12.18 MMT of corn, up 1.52 MMT year-on-year. The purchased quantity for mid- and late-season rice reached 12.67 MMT, down 303,000 MT year-on-year. Soy purchases dropped 323,000 MT from last year to 480,000 MT since this year's output drop has made farmers reluctant to sell.
