Arguably, the most common thread among all common threads involving agriculture these days is "sustainability." We hear this term used constantly. However, we have a problem with it: We are not quite sure what it means. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines "sustainability" as, among other things, "capable of being sustained -- being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged." That definition seems clear enough, but it is not clear that all those who frequently use the term are guided by that definition or anything close to it.
