We are 10 days away from USDA's 1 March quarterly stocks report and its report on initial U.S. planting intentions. These reports are always important, but never more so for the corn market. The 1 March corn stocks will reveal how much corn has been used during the first half of corn's crop year, and provide strong clues about what to expect during the second half of the year. The question the market wants answered is how tight corn supplies really are, and what ending stocks will be on 31 August. With half of the crop year still to come, USDA's 1 March corn stocks report will not precisely answer these questions, of course. But the report will provide a fresh new basis for the guesses that analysts and market watchers are sure to come up...
