USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has released its annual survey results on farmland values and cash rents, which indicate some changes of interest.During the first week of August every year, USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) releases its survey results on farmland values and cash rents. This year’s shows that on a national average, crop land value decreased $40/acre (1 percent) to $4,090/acre from the previous year. This of course varies regionally with the average value growing 4 percent in the Southeast and falling 5.4 percent in the northern Plains region. Communicating importance of value-added products

Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
